Firefighters and police are at Heathrow Airport where Terminal 4 has been evacuated.

The airport said the terminal’s check-in has been closed and passengers should not travel to Terminal 4.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) said: “Firefighters are responding to a possible hazardous materials incident at Heathrow Airport.

“Specialist crews have been deployed to carry out an assessment of the scene, and part of the airport has been evacuated as a precaution whilst firefighters respond.”

LFB said it was first called about the incident just after 17:00 BST.

Crews from Feltham, Heathrow, Wembley and surrounding fire stations have been sent to the scene.

Passengers have been seen waiting outside Terminal 4.

Airport bosses said colleagues were supporting passengers on site and they would provide further information as soon as they can.

All other terminals are operating as normal.
