Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum and Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney are expected to meet in Mexico on Thursday.
The goal of the meeting is to kickstart a new economic relationship, that excludes the US. Both counties have been hit by US President Donald Trump’s tariffs, though he has temporarily paused the levies against Mexico.
The BBC’s Will Grant in Mexico and Nadine Yousif in Canada explain what the countries hope to gain from the meeting.
